TTU's New Academic Sciences Building Ribbon-Cutting

It was a beautiful summer day for the staff, leadership and community to celebrate the official ribbon-cutting ceremony for Texas Tech University's newest academic building. The Academic Sciences Building showcases TTU’s commitment to STEM, cutting-edge research, and interdisciplinary collaboration, brought to life through the design partnership of BGK Architects and EYP (now Stantec).
This 130,000 sf facility anchors the historic campus, uniting five departments—Biology, Chemistry, Geosciences, Physics, and Psychology—under one roof. From advanced research labs to lecture halls and collaborative spaces, every detail was designed to inspire discovery. Blending tradition with progress, the building features Spanish Renaissance architecture, a hand-carved atomic medallion, and a symbolic IGOR telescope marking the centennial of Texas Tech.
“This will be a place of collaboration and innovation for some of our greatest minds to develop solutions to the needs of our fellow West Texans, our state, and the world. This building is unique in that it bridges all Texas Tech has accomplished over the past 100 years and everything that is still possible.” - Mark Griffin, Chairman of the Board of Regents
