Celebrating 40 Years of Purposeful Design

This year, we celebrate a major milestone—40 years of architectural practice rooted in service, creativity, and community. It’s a moment to reflect on where we’ve been, how we’ve grown, and the values that continue to guide us.

What began as Barnes Architects with a single commission at the Texas School for the Deaf has evolved into BGK Architects, a firm shaped by perseverance, reinvention, and a passion for mission-driven work. Along the way, we’ve had the privilege of designing spaces like the Palmer Events Center, LCRA’s Redbud Center, and Austin Community College’s Highland Campus—each one a testament to the power of architecture to make an impact.

What started as Barnes Architects has grown into BGK Architects, evolving through transitions in name and leadership—yet always grounded in the values that define us.

Today, we stand as a partnership of eight owners, continuing to serve clients, communities, and causes that matter. Our deepest thanks to every client, collaborator, and mentor who has helped shape our story—you’re part of this legacy.

Here’s to 40 years of meaningful work, and to designing the next chapter—together.
